Reforestation campaign in the Teutoburg Forest

“We don’t just want to talk about sustainability; we want to take action”: under this motto, the animonda employees successfully carried out a communal reforestation campaign in the Teutoburg Forest at the beginning of last November. A total of 1,300 trees were planted under the supervision of Theo Otten, a forestry specialist from heristo land- und forstwirtschaft GmbH.

The heristo forested area

The choice of a suitable area for the reforestation campaign fell on a fallow woodland in the heristo forested area – a 0.5 hectare cultivated area in the Osnabrück Uplands. This area came into being mainly due to bark beetle infestations, strong winds and persistent drought. The objective was to replant some of the lost trees in order to promote the sustainability of the forest and to make an important contribution to the climate.

A little animonda forest

With the help of Theo Otten, the reforestation campaign was able to be carried out under the best conditions. This is because the employees of heristo land- und forstwirtschaft GmbH, with the support of an external forestry company, had already prepared the small container plants and made holes for the roots.

Then it was time for our team to plant the trees, cover the roots with soil, tread them down and then attach the tree stakes. Each of the more than 50 employees was able to plant around 20 Douglas firs, larches, silver firs, grand firs or red oaks. With this campaign, animonda is making an important contribution to the preservation of the environment and the long-term stabilisation of the forest. We are delighted that we have been able to make a positive contribution to ensuring a more sustainable future with this project.
